The way towards a woman’s heart is through her stomach. And the way is smoother is you can get hold of a Pizza.
Pizza making at home is difficult. Because it needs a lot of ingredients and you need uniform heating. Fortunately, Air Fryers are good at the latter.
We will start with the ingredients, and once done will move towards the process.
- A pizza mesh tray : This one is extremely useful in transferring the pizza from the cooking top to the air fryer and vice versa. More so if you’re making the dough also at home.
Secondly, it helps to get uniform heating at the bottom of the pizza base as well. Air Fryer blows air from top of the machine vertically on the food. Therefore, you need to make a way for the air to reach the bottom as well. Otherwise you’ll end up with an uncooked pizza.
You can place the dough in the base pan of the fryer also. Because even that is a mesh and will help uniform circulation of hot air. But that will make the cleaning difficult and parts of dough or bread might get stuck into it. As the fryer pan has a teflon coating you don’t want to scratch and reduce its longevity.
I got mine from Amazon (not an affiliated link) : link here . 7 inches was a perfect fit in my airfryer.
- A pizza base - cheap and can be found in many grocery stores or supermarkets now.
The base is placed on the mesh. Fortunately it was a perfect fit.
- Tomato Puree
I transferred the content in the container kept to the right.
- Cheese
- Sweet Corn
- Olives
- A sausage - Chicken - Pork - Beef anything will do. Sausages are easy to cut and quick to cook. The ice in the photo is intentional. Don’t defrost / thaw your sausage. Frozen sausages are hard and easy to chop into uniform pieces.
- Oregano
I transferred the content in a labelled container long back.
- Basil. Basil is Tulsi. So, in case you don’t have dried basil, you can just pluck a couple of leaves from your Tulsi plant.
Done with the ingredients. Let’s move to the process now.
Step 0: Prepare the corn. Corn is a relatively hard substance which needs to be precooked before you can put it on your pizza. The pizza cooking time is relatively short in an air fryer so that amount of time will not be sufficient to cook the corn along with the pizza base.
Take washed corn in a glass bowl and add some water. If you’re unsure, add more water because if water gets vaporized corn will get burnt. We will throw away this water anyway.
Place the glass bowl in the air fryer. Like so
Cook it for 6 minutes in 200 degree celsius. If your one goes to a higher temperature, you can put that also. Corn should be semi cooked after this process. Rest of the cooking will be done along with the base later.
While the corn is cooking, let’s prepare the base.
Step 1: Cover the base with tomato puree. Two teaspoons should be fine. But all these measurements you can modify according to your wish.
Step 2 : Add the sausage. One smart way to cut the sausage is to grab a kitchen knife and cut it into smaller cylinders.
Like so
Step 3: Add cheese. Cheese is the crux of a good pizza. Better the cheese, tastier the pizza. I got two cheese varieties from Amul, and to be honest, I am disappointed. Their Mozzarella is the same as their processed cheese.
A word on cheese here. Three most popular cheese varieties are Mozzarella, Parmesan and Cheddar. Except for Mozzarella, the other two are hard and have their own flavors. Because they are hard unlike Mozzarella, they won’t melt and mix well with the other ingredients. Also spices need fat to spread their aroma. They dissolve in fat as both fat and their aromatic parts are organic compounds. If the cheese doesn't melt, you don’t get any aroma, even if you put a lot of spices.
BUT, then again, it’s air fryer pizza. No serious business. Put whatever you can get your hands on.
A clean way to grate cheese is to rub it from one end of the grater to the other end. That ensures the cheese streaks are of more or less uniform length and the grater remains cleaner.
After 1st innings
More, more cheese.
Step 5 : By this time, the corn must be ready. Open the fryer, take a fork and pierce unicorn (Sorry for the dad joke, I’m getting no younger).
If it seems semi-cooked (a bit softer than raw corn), scoop it out using a spoon. Be careful, because the pan should be still hot.
After corning
Step 6: Add olives
Again, use a pair of scissors to flesh them from the sides.
Be careful about the seeds. They are hard and won’t be chopped by the scissors.
After adding olives.
Step 7 : Add Oregano according to your choice. A small spoonful should be enough.
Step 8 : Sprinkle a bit of basil.
Done.
Step 9 : Now place the pizza in the airfryer.
Start cooking at low heat. Lowest in mine is 150 degree celsius. Start with 6 minutes, and check every 2 minutes until 12. Remove when you feel it’s done. Ideally should be done around 8 - 10 minutes.
Step 10 : Remove the pizza from the pan. While removing the pizza, the pan will be hot. So, first I place the pan on a bowl lid, to keep it horizontal.
Then, I use a large haata (হাতা) to take it out. 11oz mug for comparison.
Let’s take a look inside.
Now a close up.
After removing from the pan, on the plate.

Step 11: Cutting - I don’t have a pizza cutter yet. So I used a khunti (খুন্তি) to cut it into pieces.

Almost there.
Happiness! :)
